The Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art in Nusantara – Museum MACAN is an art museum in Jakarta. Museum MACAN is an institution that provides public access to a significant and continually growing collection of modern and contemporary art from Indonesia and around the world. The museum features exhibition programs and active events in a facility spanning 7,100 square meters, including education and conservation spaces.

Recognized as one of the best tourist destinations by TIME magazine, the museum’s inaugural exhibition showcased world-renowned installations once visited by Katy Perry.

Yayoi Kusama’s Infinity Mirrored Room creates an illusion for visitors in a space filled with mirrors and colorful lights. Another theme presented is Life is The Heart of A Rainbow. The exhibition showcases Yayoi’s paintings, white rooms, and polka dots.

The museum has also hosted exhibitions of works by other Japanese artists. This gallery is the only place in Southeast Asia trusted to present Chiharu Soita’s debut exhibition. Themed The Soul Trembles, Chiharu’s works are dominated by threads in red, white, and black colors. There are also other interesting installations utilizing old window frames and suitcases. All of these artworks feel like they transport visitors into a realm of dreams and memories.
